How to remove pages from a PDF, step by step

Removing pages takes a selection out of the document and keeps the rest in its original order.

  1. Drop in the PDF to edit

Drag the file onto the drop area, or click to browse for it. The page count appears as soon as it opens.

  2. Enter the pages to remove

The “Pages to remove” field accepts single numbers and ranges separated by commas, for example “1, 3, 5-8”. You can also click the page thumbnails: the field fills itself in, and Shift+click chooses a whole range.

  3. Read the summary before continuing

A message reports how many pages will be removed and how many will remain. If the selection would wipe out the whole document, a message says so and the button stays disabled.

  4. Click “Remove pages”

VellumPDF rebuilds the document with only the pages you kept, in their original order, ready to download.

The downloaded file keeps the original name followed by “-pages-supprimees”, regardless of the interface language.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove specific pages from a PDF without touching the rest?

In the input field, type the pages to remove — a single number or a range, for example “1, 3, 5-8” — then export. The remaining pages keep their original order in the resulting file.

Can I remove several page ranges in one operation?

Yes, you can type a single page number and several ranges at the same time, separated by commas; removing all the listed pages happens in a single export.

Is the original file changed or uploaded anywhere?

Neither: the deletion is computed in your browser, with no prior upload of the document, and produces a new, downloadable file.

How do you designate the pages to remove?

In a text field, with a syntax such as “1, 3, 5-8”: a single number, a range with a hyphen, or several items separated by commas. You can also click the thumbnails of the pages to remove: they are struck through and the field fills itself in.

Can every page be removed?

No, and the tool says so before acting: the selection would remove the whole document, and at least one page has to remain. The button stays disabled until the entry is corrected, so no empty file is produced.

What becomes of a number outside the document?

It is discarded without a message when the entry is parsed. The warning only appears if no valid number is left. So read the count of kept pages before downloading.
