How to reorder the pages of a PDF, step by step
Organizing shows every page as a thumbnail so you can move or delete it visually, before exporting the result.
Drop in the PDF to reorganize
Drag the file onto the drop area, or click to browse for it. A thumbnail appears for each page, generated progressively.
Move, rotate, add
Drag a thumbnail to its new place, or use its two arrows. “Reverse the order” flips the whole document; the rotate button turns a page a quarter turn, and the add button inserts a blank page after it. The “Add a PDF” tile appends the pages of another document.
Mark the pages to leave out
Clicking the trash icon greys out the thumbnail and marks it as deleted, without removing the page right away. Clicking the thumbnail again restores it.
Click “Export N pages”
The button shows how many pages are kept and stays disabled if every page is marked as deleted. VellumPDF rebuilds the document in the order shown, leaving out the discarded pages.
If the thumbnails fail to generate (a damaged file), reordering and exporting still work — only the preview is missing.
Frequently asked questions
How do I visually reorder the pages of a PDF?
VellumPDF shows each page as a thumbnail: the arrows on each thumbnail change the order and a click deletes one, without having to guess a page’s content from its number alone.
Can this tool also delete pages, or does it only reorder them?
Both: every thumbnail can be moved with its arrows to change the document order, and deleted outright if the page is no longer needed, before you export the result.
Is this page-organizing tool free and does it avoid uploading the file?
Yes, the rearrangement is computed locally, in your browser, with no transfer of the PDF to a server and no account required.
How do I move a page in the list?
Drag it to its new place, or use the two arrows on its thumbnail, which move it back or forward one position — with a keyboard or a finger, where dragging does not work. “Reverse the order” flips the whole document at once.
Can I rotate a page or add a blank page here?
Yes. Each thumbnail has a button to rotate it a quarter turn and another to insert a blank page right after it, in the size of the page before it. To duplicate a page, extract it, then merge the result where you want it.
What happens if I mark every page as deleted?
The counter drops to zero pages kept and the export button disables itself. A deleted page stays visible in grey: one click restores it, so nothing is lost before export.
Can I add the pages of another PDF?
Yes: the “Add a PDF” tile at the end of the thumbnails loads a second document; its pages are added at the end and can be moved, rotated or deleted like the others. A password-protected PDF is refused.
