How to create a Swiss QR-bill, step by step

The payment part follows the Swiss Payment Standards; your bank details stay on your device.

  1. Choose what you need

    “Create a QR-bill” produces an A4 page with the slip at the bottom; “Add it to my PDF invoice” adds it to an existing invoice, on a new page or at the bottom of the last one.

  2. Enter your account and address

    Type the IBAN or QR-IBAN, then the name, street, number, postcode, town and country. “Remember my details on this device” keeps them for the next invoice, in this browser only.

  3. Add the amount and the reference

    The amount is optional. With a QR-IBAN, a 27-digit QR reference is required: type your invoice number and click “Generate the reference”. With an ordinary IBAN, the “RF…” reference is optional.

  4. Click “Create the QR-bill”

    If a field does not meet the standard, the list of corrections appears before anything is created.

Before a first bulk mailing, scan a slip with your bank’s app: that is the check that counts.

Will banks accept the QR-bill produced?

The QR code and payment part follow the Swiss Payment Standards, version 2.3, in force since 21 November 2025: structured addresses, a checked IBAN, references with check digits. Before a first bulk mailing, scan a slip with your bank’s app: that is the check that counts.

QR-IBAN or IBAN: which should I use?

A QR-IBAN (bank identifier between 30000 and 31999) requires a 27-digit QR reference, which allows payments to be matched automatically. With your ordinary IBAN, the “RF…” reference is optional. VellumPDF recognises the account type and tells you which one is needed.

Are my bank details sent anywhere?

No. The slip is computed in your browser. If you tick “Remember my details on this device”, they are kept in this browser only, and unticking the box erases them.

Can I add the payment part to an invoice I already have?

Yes: choose “Add it to my PDF invoice” and drop your invoice. The slip is added on a new page, or at the bottom of the last page if its bottom 105 mm are free.
