If a field cannot be written to — a missing font, an unusual structure — it does not stop the rest from being processed: its name appears in a final note, worded “Fields that cannot be edited, left as is: …”.

How do you fill in an interactive PDF form?
Open the PDF in the tool: the form’s text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdown lists become fillable directly in the browser. Once complete, download the filled-in file.
Can I prevent my answers from being changed after sending?
Yes, an option locks the answers before producing the final file, so a government form, a contract or an HR questionnaire can’t be altered afterward.
Are my answers to a confidential form sent to a server?
No, everything stays on your device: what you type remains local until you decide to send the file yourself, and the tool is free.
My form is in XFA format (Adobe LiveCycle): can this tool fill it in?
No. XFA forms can only be filled in by Adobe Acrobat, and VellumPDF doesn’t process them — that would mean sending your document elsewhere, which the tool won’t do.
What happens if my PDF has no form fields at all?
The tool tells you it’s an ordinary page rather than an interactive form, and suggests using the editing tool instead to write over it.
The form has buttons or a signature field: can I fill those in with this tool?
No, those elements are intentionally left out: a button or a signature field can’t be filled in by keyboard the way a text field, checkbox, or list can. Only text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and option lists are offered.
Can I fill in a form in Russian, Arabic or Chinese?
Yes. If a value you type goes beyond common Latin characters, VellumPDF embeds a font that can draw it (Noto for Greek and Cyrillic, IBM Plex for Arabic, Noto CJK for Chinese, Japanese and Korean, downloaded once from GitHub) and redraws the fields’ appearance with it. Anything no font can draw becomes a question mark, and the page says so.
