An accounting firm handles dozens of invoices, payslips, and bank statements every day, each tied to an identified client. Routing them through an online service multiplies the third-party processing you have to document — one per provider, sometimes one per file.
The problem
Compressing an annual file, running OCR on a scanned batch of invoices, or unlocking a bank statement: these are high-volume, repeated tasks in an accounting firm. Done on a free online converter, each one sends a client’s documents — often identifiable, often financial — to a provider’s servers, usually located outside Switzerland.
For a single file, the formality seems negligible. Multiplied by the number of clients and the number of operations carried out each month, it adds up to a volume of third-party processing that’s hard to track — and each instance should, in principle, appear in the firm’s record of processing activities.
